Read John 9:4
Throughout the Bible, Jesus works tirelessly healing, preaching, and teaching. Still, there was so much work left to be done. John 4:35 says, “Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.” The harvest is plentiful. Now is the time to bring people to Christ and harvest souls.
You are living in the greatest harvest in history and you have one chance to make a difference for the kingdom of God and must not waste it. God does not want you to miss any opportunities to evangelize and share the gospel. You need to be alert to when the field ripens, to when a soul is open to the gospel.
THE NIGHT IS COMING
It’s said time and time again that tomorrow is not promised to anyone. You have one chance to make a difference for the kingdom of God and you must not waste it. John 9:4, says “I must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work.” In other words, there will come a time when you will have to give account for the work you did. You cannot take for granted that you have time to fulfill your duties unto the Lord.
Jesus’ words in this verse are both a warning and a call to action. You are called to multiply disciples of Christ until all can hear the gospel. No one knows when the end is coming, but it is coming. Jesus Himself said that the night is coming.
You dare not fail now in the season of harvest. You need to work the works of Him who sent you while it is day. Before the lights go out, and darkness falls, there is a window of opportunity for you.
MIRACLES ARE THE DINNER BELL
When Jesus begins to heal, everyone comes. Jesus does not allow pain and suffering to occur because He is punishing you, but He allows it to display His promise of hope and eternal life through Christ Jesus. The Bible is filled with many stories of persons that were once ill, sick, or blind and were made new by God’s healing power.
The world is hungry for an encounter with Him and this is why the harvest is so important. When crusades are held, thousands and even millions are transformed by the spirit of God. The more lives that are touched, the more lives those persons can now touch.
The latter portion of John 9:3 says, “’…but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in Him”. The miracles of God serve as the dinner bell to draw more to sit at the table and taste and see how the Lord is good. You do not need to do anything special, you only need to allow God to work and show up.
YOUR ROLE IN THE HARVEST
God doesn’t have to take you halfway across the world for you to play a role in the harvest.
Even if you cannot attend a crusade, God may be calling on you to give. Even if you think that you are too old to go out into the streets and preach, God is calling you to pray for the harvest and the souls that will be led to Christ. Your job can be done from the comfort of your home and even in your local church. Every single person and their unique gifts are needed. 1 Corinthians 3:9 says, “For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.” You are instructed to labor in this world, so as to fulfill the work of the Lord.
Matthew 9:36-38 says, “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.’” God uses this analogy to highlight the fact that there are a lot of persons who need to be cared for and brought to God. He petitions for prayer so the laborers will play their role in the harvest. He needs us to preach the word, heal others and care for those persons who now accept Him into their lives.
There are so many persons who need the Lord and are waiting to have an encounter with Him. Will you labor in the harvest?
