‘Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.’ – Luke 13:10-13
God sees you when you’re worried about how you’re going to make ends meet. He sees you when you’re trying to make things happen for your family but you may not have everything that you need. He sees you when you’re troubled about finances and wondering how you’re going to make things work. He sees the tears and the struggle, but he also sees that you’re still trying to praise Him despite the circumstances. He sees that you are putting Him first.
On the Sabbath, Jesus heals a woman who was bound by a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years. She was stuck in this position and could not move at all. Jesus called her forward and said ‘Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.’ Immediately, she was healed and glorified God.
In the midst of His teaching, Jesus took the time to ensure that the woman received healing. Jesus saw her, and He sees you. Whatever has you stuck in a position or place God never designed for you, you will be loosed.
HE CAN FIX IT
Have you ever had a time in your life when you wondered how you would get past this or how would you get out of this? Do you ever wonder when you will overcome a situation? This woman came into the synagogue stuck. She was in a great deal but she still came. She didn’t care how she was feeling or what she was going through. In spite of what you’re going through, you still need to worship Jesus the best way you know how. Jesus will bring you out and set you free. He will break the shackles and deliver you.
Jesus didn’t just see the woman who was crippled–He called her to Him. There are problems that your significant others or friends cannot fix. They cannot free you, heal you or liberate you. They didn’t die for you and do not have blood that is clean enough to cleanse you from the situations that you are facing in your life.
Jesus didn’t call the woman with the spirit of infirmity to another man or organization. He called her to Himself because He knew what needed to be done. Luke 13:12-13 says, “When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, ‘Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.’ Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.”
RUN TO HIM
In spite of what you’re going through, you can still worship Him. You may not be able to scream, shout, or dance, but He will be glad that you came. Let the devil know that no matter what you’re going through you are still going to run to the house of the Lord and fellowship with His people.
The woman who was bound by the spirit of infirmity was stuck in this position for over 18 years, but Jesus saw her. Many times you may feel as though God isn’t seeing what you are going through, but He does. Most importantly, you need to have faith that you will overcome.
THOU ART LOOSE
God wants you to be loose from anger, depression, and suicidal thoughts. When the woman was healed and loosed from her state, she stood up straight and began to glorify God. Luke 13:13 says, “Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.”
God is a chain-breaking God. God is a shackle-breaking God. But do you believe that? The devil that thinks he can destroy you and take you out is under your feet.
When God breaks the chains off of your life, not only do you walk straight–you glorify God because people look at you and see what God has done in your life. However, you bring another level of glorifying God because you will help those who are experiencing what you were broken free from. People will begin to say ‘If God could do it for you, then He can do it for me.’
APPLICATION QUESTIONS
How far are you willing to go to receive your healing? Are you still willing to show up despite how you feel?
Do you believe that the Lord sees you no matter what you’re going through? He has not forgotten about you and He will bring you through.
Do you want to be stuck or do you want to be free? Do you want to be loosed from your condition?
